Instructions for authors

Authors guidelines

  1. The text can be signed up to five authors;

  2. The text should be structured as it follows: A4 (29.7 x 21 cm) text editor: default Microsoft Word for Windows, using characters (font) Times New Roman size 12 with 1.5 line spacing and justified text alignment. Margins: Top: 3 cm, Bottom: 3 cm, Left: 2 cm, Right: 2 cm;

  3. The article should not exceed 25 pages, including tables, charts, graphs, illustrations, notes and references;

  4. The articles should be organized, if possible, with title, summary, abstract (english and portuguese), key-words, introduction, methodology, results and discussion, conclusions and references;

  5. First Page article content:

    1. Title with no more than eight words in capitals and in bold (in the original language, English and Portuguese);

    2. Summary in the original language up to 1,500 characters without space, containing objectives, methods, results and conclusion of the work, without paragraphs and justified;

    3. Minimum of three and maximum of five key-words in the original language aligned to the left;

    4. English summary (abstract, including key-words) up to 1,500 characters, without space, containing field of study, objectives, methods, results and conclusions of the work, without paragraphs and justified;

    5. Portuguese summary (in casa the original language is not Portuguese, including key-words) up to 1,500 characters, without space, containing objectives, methods, results and conclusion of the work, without paragraphs and justified;

  6. Then, the article should be started;

  7. All references should be mentioned in the text indicating the surname, year of publication and page. The complete bibliographical references should be presented in alphabetical order at the end of the text, according to the ABNT (NBR-6023);

  8. References to author(s) should be mentioned in the text, indicating the surname, year of publication and page number (if it is the case). Examples: (Dias, 1999), when the text is not quoted literally; (Dias, 1999: 24) and Dias (1999: 24), when using quotes from books or articles. Do not use ibid., Op.cit. or similar;

  9. References highlights should be in italic, not bold or underlined;

  10. Notes should be presented in the end of the text and numbered sequentially before the bibliographic references;

  11. Attachments, if any, should be placed after the references;

  12. Diagrams, charts and tables should present title above them and source below; also, they should be placed throughout the text, as they are mentioned;

  13. Graphs, figures and/or photographs must be submitted in black and white, clear and with contrast, scanned and inserted in the text after their respective quotations and, also, in a separate file;

  14. It is required that when saving all the files in Microsoft Word document, the author(s) delete any denomination(s) concerning their name that may be included in the summary of properties of each file (file/properties/summary).

Each and every material signed will be considered solely by the author(s) responsibility, whose work has a spontaneous character and is therefore, unpaid, and whose rights, including translation, are reserved to Átomo Publisher. It is allowed to quote articles without prior permission, as far as the source provided is identified. The full reproduction of articles is prohibited. Authors will receive a free (01) copy of the issue in which the article was published and also an electronic reprint of the same.
